The Answers toAll Your Questions
When are you open?
Our centre is open Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm. We are open 52 weeks per year, however we are closed for all Western Australian public holidays.
How do I enrol?
To register your interest and begin the enrolment process, please fill out a waitlist form or a contact form on our website and one of our admin team will be in contact with you. There is no cost or obligation attached to this registration.
Do you offer orientation sessions?
At Canning Bridge ELC, we want every child to feel safe, comfortable, and excited to join us. To assist in your child’s transition into our care we offer three complimentary Play & Stay sessions for all new enrolments.
These 1.5-hour sessions give children the chance to explore their new environment, meet our educators, and ease into the transition at their own pace. We strongly recommend attending at least two sessions.
Parents can choose to either stay with their child for this experience or leave them with us to become confident in the environment independently. We do however recommend parents stay with their child for the first Play and Stay to ensure children feel comfortable in the space and that parents have an opportunity to get to know their child’s educators.
Our goal is to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible for both children and families.
What food does Canning Bridge ELC provide?
Our skilled chefs design and prepare diverse, seasonal menus that cater to age appropriate nutritional guidelines. All meals are freshly made in-house each day, adhering to age-appropriate guidelines. We also accommodate all dietary requirements and preferences.
Children are provided with breakfast (if needed), morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack.
All meals are included in your daily fee.
How do I communicate with educators?
We operate with an open-door policy and prioritise communication with our families. Please feel free to discuss your child’s general enjoyment of their days at the centre with our staff at any time. Sometimes drop off and pick up times can be busy for both educators and families, so we encourage parents and guardians to arrange a time with their child’s room leader if they wish to discuss their child’s progress and development in more depth.
We are also available to communicate via email, text message, or phone.
How do I see updates about my child?
Our educators use the Xplor Home app to record your child’s food intake, toileting events, sleep and/or rest activity, sunscreen applications, any medical events, and general updates on their day. You will receive daily recaps with photos of what your child has done every day, as well as learning stories every term.
The Xplor app is an important tool for administrational purposes too. You can receive updates on events and policies, view your finances, request casual days and add authorised contacts for your child.
Are your educators qualified?

Are you a SunSmart Centre?
Canning Bridge ELC is a SunSmart service.
Outdoor play will occur each day between safe ultraviolet conditions and sun safe hours. When playing outside, children and educators are to wear wide brimmed hats and sun-safe clothing.
Sunscreen is applied to all children over 6 months of age at least 20 minutes before they go out into the sun.
How do you manage medical conditions?
Canning Bridge is committed to managing all medical conditions, including asthma, diabetes, and anaphylaxis to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and staff.
We regularly involve educators, families, and children in ongoing discussions about medical conditions and general health. All health-related information will be managed in accordance with privacy and confidentiality procedures.
What is your policy on behaviour management?
Our behaviour management policies are based on our core values and behaviour support is a focus for our centre. All children have the right to feel safe, be happy and have fun at CBELC. A low-key, informal approach is used for minor behavioural instances, however in more serious or ongoing instances, the centre will work with parents to support the child.
